Where everything started...
July 9th, 2020
University Eye Clinic of the University Hospital "Sveti Duh" becomes a Certified Center for the treatment of hereditary retinal dystophies, making the Republic of Croatia the sixth country in the world, along with the USA, Great Britain, Germany, France and Israel, where this innovative treatment of hereditary retinal diseases that cause blindness is being implemented.
November 20th, 2019
By the decision of the President of the Republic of Croatia the University Eye Clinic of the University Hospital “Sveti Duh“ was awarded the Charter of the Republic of Croatia for exceptional contribution to Croatian medicine and healthcare.
May 31st, 2019
The WHO Collaborating Centre for Child Eye Care was awarded the Croatian Medical Association Diploma for extraordinary contribution to Croatian medical science and healthcare.
January 14th, 2019
Reference Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus became the WHO Collaborating Centre for Child Eye Care.

Croatian National Registry of Early Amblyopia Detection was established, first of its kind in the world.
June 20th, 2016
By the Decision of the Croatian Parliament Croatian National Amblyopia Day was introduced in 2016, celebrating September 12th.

The research team of the Zagreb Amblyopia Preschool Screening (ZAPS) project, led by Professor Mladen Bušić, was awarded the City of Zagreb Award.

University Eye Clinic, Clinical Hospital “Sveti Duh“ became Reference Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
April 2016 to February 2018
Croatian Ophthalmological Terminology project of the Croatian Science Foundation under the leadership of prof. Mladen Bušic, MD, PhD. with the aim of creating a database of Croatian professional ophthalmological terminology (systematic terminological collections) with translated equivalents in other languages.
June 1st, 2015
The Minister of Health of the Republic of Croatia encouraged by the results of the amblyopia screening project in Zagreb, introduced screening for low vision as mandatory for all four-year-old children in the Republic of Croatia, which ranked Croatia among the world's most developed health prevention policies.

The clinic becomes a SOE visiting clinic. The European Ophthalmological Society has thus recognized the University Eye Clinic of the University Hospital Sveti Duh and recommended it to all european ophthalmology residents for further improvement of their skills.
September 2011 to June 2014
In the kindergartens of Zagreb, the Clinic is implementing the world's largest amblyopia screening project, Zagreb Amblyopia Prevention Study (ZAPS). The study included about 16,000 four-year-olds.

The clinic organizes the first in a series of international symposia, “Up-to-date Ophthalmology”, where participants can enjoy lectures given by top world experts from the most prominent ophthalmology clinics from the USA, France, Germany, and others.

Publicaiton of the first in a series of university textbooks created by the Clinic’s employees, "Seminaria ophthalmologica"
2010.
The Department of Ophthalmology becomes University Eye Clinic of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek, a recognition and proof of state-of-the-art treatment and top scientific activities.
